I’ve been eyeballing the Daytona long reach 3-ton floor jack at Harbor Freight for some time now. When I got a $159.99 coupon for it, I figured it was finally time to take the plunge. Man, this thing is a beast! It rolls so much smoother, and pumps up so much quicker than my old Craftsman unit. The longer reach will make it so much easier to get to the pumpkin on the rear end, or reach under my step tubes to the frame of my truck . I can’t wait to jack something up!

I already sold the old jack for $50 on FB Marketplace. I had 39 people contact me within 24 hours! Glad that's over with!

I know the feels! I actually went in with a fistful of coupons for various things I needed. Rang up at $310, but I paid $240 after coupons!

How are you doing? I haven’t seen you around much. I  w as actually thinking about you about an hour ago . I saw a Volvo Tech making a big McD’s lunch run in a loaner X90, and it reminded me of you.

Good score.  I heard from somewhere that the Daytona jacks are made by the same place that makes the snap on ones.  I almost picked one up on new years eve.

I have the same Craftsman jack and have been looking at that same HF one but haven’t been able to convince myself that I should pull the trigger.

Ooh nice! I got a HF gift card for Christmas, haven’t decided what to use it on yet.

While I haven't actually used it yet, I'm quite impressed by the feel of it.

Snap On actually sued Harbor Freight over the original Daytona jack. They settled for no money. Terms haven't been released, but it sounds like they use a lot of parts from the same factory, but are assembled in different places.

While it's always done the job, I've never been impressed by the Craftsman. Admittedly I haven't used the new one, but I'm very impressed by the feel of it.

Mmmm I need me one of those jacks. It would make car and maybe bike stuff so much easier!

Side note: Is that a new scooter I see next to the Zuma 125 ?

Couple other Daytona jacks are also on sale, as is their regular 3-ton low profile jack.

Its a really nice piece. I can’t wait to use it.

D id you miss when I bought a Vespa for Mrs Shop Teacher towards the end of the summer? It's a 2010 LX 150. It was dropped once, but mechanically very well maintained. Scored it for 1.0 stacks!

I have a 3 ton jack. I think I may have bought it at AutoZone. I can’t stand the fucking thing. I hate it with passion. Most offensive is the pumping bar/release bar - it keeps popping out at the most inopportune moment and its socket goes up. Then you have to pump the socket down by hand and stick the bar back in.

I have been looking for a replacement. Tell me. How hard/easy is it to get the bar/pipe out of the socket?

It’s a major upgrade in almost every way! The long reach, the lift range, the rapid pump, the foot pedal... You’re gonna love it. If you got room to store it without tripping over it all t he time, that is. haha

My main gripe with the Craft sman is that is that it weighs a ton and doesn’t roll very easily so it’s hard to position sometimes. I also need to get a pad for it since it tends to chew things.

My gripes we re the same. Plus it pumps up very slowly, and it’s kinda hard to let something down slowly.

Pulled the trigger on mine awhile back because I was tired of having to put my 540i on blocks before I lifted it. To be honest I think the low profile long reach jack is better than the Yellow Daytona 4 ton. Lower to the ground and higher max lift, plus I like orange better.

I paid the full price on mine of $180 but worth it. I kept my old central pneumatic jack (that was HF brand before the pitt jacks) because I have had countless times where I have needed it. Plus it’s way lighter

OH! That’s right! I forgot you picked up a Vespa. I keep seeing slightly dinged up ones on CL for $500 and want to take the dive (there’s a very broken 250 for $700 right now) but gosh are Vespa body panels hilariously expensive.

I have the exact same Craftsman. I thought it was only my Craftsman jack that did that.

How heavy is the HF compared to the Craftsman? The long reach would be nice. Maybe I should also keep my Craftsman for the times I don’t have floor space f or the HF long reach ?

Kinja'd!!!2

Yeah. I have same design. My question is - is it flimsy? If you gave it a good yank, would it pop out?

At this point it’s irrelevant. I ordered one already. I just hope it’s better. I am going to buy a window so I can throw the old one right out of it.

I was heartbroken when I brought a super duty daytona home and found that it wasn’t low profile enough (I absolutely refuse to fuck around with pre lifting/putting the car on 2x4s)

I might give this a try, my old long reach HF jack is getting a little tired. Grey is a boring color anyway...

“I can’t wait to jack something up!”

This is the kind of statement I expect to hear out of a 'roided-up, lifted bro truck driving, Keystone-swilling frat boy...not what I would expect to hear from our venerable shop-teacher. ^_^

Nice. I’ve long said (well, since the daytona line came out a year or two back) that if I need to buy another jack for some reason (have 2) that it’ll be one of those.

Nope, that’s just how it’s made.

They’re both pretty heavy, but I didn’t lift the Craftsman up to compare it. The person I sold it to picked it up.

That’s why I sold the 3-ton Craftsman . It’s an upgrade, and I don’t need three jacks. I still have a 2-1/2 ton Craftsman that is small enough to lift by myself, without dropping a nut. After selling the Craftsman, the upgrade only cost me $110+tax.

I have the HF Low Pro/Long reach 2 ton that they don’t sell now that they expanded the datona lineup. $120 and its not orange. The only jack I could find that would get the front center jacking point on my WRX. The standard low pro 3ton is just taller in the back to make up for the low pro front, so it doesn’t get under much before you hit.

A 2-ton would be pushing it s capability lifting my truck. That would make me nervous.
